A group of international businesses were investigated by the authorities of an Asian country for importing a commonly-used chemical substance without the necessary license. We worked with our clients to identify and develop key relationships and strategies, and successfully advocated for legislation revision.

The Result: No penalty was imposed and our clients are no longer subjected to the licensing requirement.

A major agri-business asked for our assistance to deal with illicit trade of their products in a certain Asian country. We cultivated an effective information network, uncovering critical information on the modus operandi of the illicit trade operations as well as identities of the operators and buyers, and represented the client in engaging the various enforcement agencies.

The Result: Successful raids and other enforcement actions were conducted, reducing the incidence of illicit trade.

We provided up-to-date intelligence and analysis of on-going WTO and FTA negotiations in relation to certain countries in the Asia-Pacific region. We identified several policy spaces where WTO/FTA-consistent governmental actions can be taken to the benefit of the economy and business.

The Result: Approval of a government measure which encourages continued investment.
