A European manufacturer of alcoholic beverages wanted to establish a distribution hub and headquarters for the Asia-Pacific region. We conducted a Greenfield study, identifying and comparing the investment, customs, and other regulatory conditions in select countries against criteria defined by the client as critical for successful implementation of its hub, analyzing the various options available and recommending the most optimal solution.
The Result: Based on BCIC’s recommendations and with our support, the client successfully negotiated for a favourable tax incentive for their distribution hub-cum-regional headquarters.
A multinational agri-business requested BCIC to examine and streamline its global supply chain and procurement flows, capitalizing on tariff preferences under free trade agreements (“FTAs”). We established a “live” global FTA database, identifying all the FTAs and other preferential trade arrangements, and mapped out the client’s global operational footprint. We analyzed and identified the cost savings opportunities.
The Result: The client realized an immediate cost-savings of more than US$10 million.
A French luxury goods company wanted to establish a hub in China for its product customization operations. We identified and assessed various scenarios, including type and location of operation, transaction and product flow, import and export requirements and procedures, and other issues.
The Result: The client accepted our proposed solution. We successfully represented the client in engaging the Customs authority for their approval for the hub.
A major European automobile company was considering establishing and operating in a Free Trade Zone in Thailand. We conducted a comprehensive study to identify potential savings in import duty and excise tax as well as the cost-benefit of operating in the Free Trade Zone. We also assisted the client in designing and implementing an enhanced IT system to accommodate additional regulatory requirements of the Free Trade Zone scheme.
The Result: The client was successful in presenting the Free Trade Zone project with the Thai Government and obtained the relevant certificate to establish its operations.
